Christa Maree

Optometrist

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”– Matthew 6:22

I’m a passionate optometrist, wife, and mom of two daughters. My goal is to make every patient – whether a child, parent, or grandparent—feel welcomed, comfortable, and cared for. I especially love working with children and supporting families through every stage of vision care.

Since qualifying in 2005 at RAU (now the University of Johannesburg), I have pursued ongoing education through numerous courses and webinars, including OPSIS, OVDRA, and Sanet’s Course, among others. This commitment allows me to provide comprehensive care in areas such as:

  • Children’s vision development
  • Supporting children with neurodiversity
  • Visual-related learning difficulties
  • Squints and eye alignment
  • Myopia control
  • Concussions, strokes, and traumatic brain injuries
  • Sports vision

I had the privilege of working alongside Lambert Fick for seven years. After his passing on 19 September 2024, I was honoured – through the grace of God – to take over the practice and continue the legacy of knowledge, care, and excellence he began in 1981.

Outside of the practice, I’m a huge sports enthusiast. While I may be calm and gentle in the consulting room, I can be just as loud and spirited at the sports field (Sorry kids!).

Martelize Maarsingh

Optometrist

I’m an optometrist with a passion for people, meaningful relationships, and providing care that truly centres on each patient’s unique needs. I completed my Optometry degree at the University of the Free State and joined Lambert Fick & Maree in 2022. During my final year, I discovered behavioural optometry – sparking my lasting interest in how vision impacts learning, development, and performance.

My clinical focus includes:

  • Comprehensive Visual Examinations
  • Paediatric Optometry
  • Neuro-optometry
  • Vision Rehabilitation
  • Sports & Performance Vision
  • Vision-based learning difficulties

I’ve had the privilege of learning from mentors like Lambert Fick and Christa Maree, as well as through ongoing training, including the OPSIS course and international conferences.

Outside the practice, I’m married and love the outdoors – whether it’s mountain biking, running, camping, or training for the next adventure. My church community is also a big part of my life, and I’m grateful for their constant support.

For me, optometry is about more than just improving sight – it’s about changing lives.

Anke Minnie

Vision Therapist

Hi, I’m Anke Minnie, and I’m proud to serve as the Vision Therapist here at our practice. I hold an Honours degree in Human Movement Sciences, specializing in Kinderkinetics, from North-West University in Potchefstroom. I continued training at Lambert Fick and Maree optometrist including attending some of the OPSIS sessions.

My passion lies in working closely with each patient through one-on-one sessions, where I focus on providing individualized care that empowers and supports them throughout their therapeutic journey. I believe that real progress comes from feeling seen, heard, and encouraged—and that’s exactly what I strive to offer every person I work with.

I have a strong professional interest in early childhood development, rehabilitation after brain injuries, and community-based initiatives. Building meaningful relationships is at the heart of what I do, and creating a warm, welcoming space for my clients is something I value deeply.

Fun fact: I love hearing about other people’s adventures—and I have a particular weakness for chocolate!

We’d love to hear from you!
