Sooth the eyelids
Soothing the eyelids can be a great way to relax after a long day. It can help to reduce stress and tension in the eye area, which can often lead to headaches and eye strain. With a little bit of self-care, you can help to ease tension and promote relaxation in the eye area, as well as encourage healthy tear production.
Warm Compress
Use a clean cloth soaked in warm water, wring it out and place it over your eyes for 5min. For additional warmth, consider heating up a beanbag in the microwave for approximately 20 seconds (be sure to test the temperature to avoid burns) and placing it on top of the cloth.
Eye Massage
Using your fingertips, gently massage the area around your eyes in a circular motion. Be sure to use light pressure and avoid pulling or tugging on the delicate skin around the eyes.
Wash with Baby shampoo
To clean your eyelids, begin by wetting a cotton face pad with a diluted mixture of J&J Baby Shampoo and lukewarm water. Gently wash the outside of your eyelids with the pad. Once done, rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Stay hydrated and take nutrients
Try adding omega-3 rich foods to your diet and drinking an adequate amount of water to support healthy tear production.
Water
Drink plenty of water daily to maintain overall hydration.
Omega-3
Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids (like fatty fish) or take quality supplements like Solgar, Solal or the Real thing.
Taurine
Taurine is an amino acid found abundantly in the eye. Taurine may prevent the development of cataract and dry eye through its osmoregulatory action.
Supplement with eyedrops
Supplementing with eyedrops can be a helpful solution. There are a variety of options available, including artificial tears, lubricating drops, and prescription eye drops. It’s important to consult with your optometrist to determine which type of eyedrops would be most effective for your specific needs. When using eyedrops, be sure to follow the instructions carefully and avoid touching the dropper to your eye to prevent infection. With consistent use, eyedrops can provide relief for dry, uncomfortable eyes.

Blink Regularly
Make a conscious eff ort to blink more often, especially when using screens or in dry environments.
Humidify Your Environment
Use a humidifier to add moisture to the air, especially in dry indoor spaces.
Protect your eyes
Wear sunglasses to shield your eyes from wind and sunlight, and use protective eyewear when necessary.
Position your screen and limit screen time
Ensure your computer screen is at eye level and an appropriate distance from your eyes. Reduce screen time, and use the 20-20-20 rule – every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and focus on something 20 feet away.
Remember that CONSISTENT and proper hydration, along with other recommended measures, can significantly improve the comfort and health of your eyes if you’re dealing with dry eyes.
