Your vision is our passion.
From first steps to golden years, we’re here to protect and optimise your sight at every stage of life.
Children’s Eye Exams
- Babies (6–12 months, 30 min screening)
Welcome to parenthood – and the constant question: “Is my baby okay?” For peace of mind, bring your baby for a screening to ensure a healthy visual start. This is especially important if there’s a family history of eye difficulties. If you’re already part of our practice, we’ll gladly welcome your new little one with a free baby screening.
- Toddlers (1–3 years, 45–60 min exam)
Our playful approach turns anxious faces into smiles. No need for words – we use special tests that don’t rely on speech. This age is critical for picking up potential developmental delays in vision.
- Children (4–12 years, 45–60 min exam)
These are key years for visual growth. From scribbles to reading and learning, vision drives 60–80% of school performance. Annual eye exams help ensure your child’s visual skills keep pace with learning demands. If delays are detected, we may recommend a comprehensive 120 min evaluation (see Complicated Cases).
Student & Teen Vision Support (45–60 min)
Does your teen complain of headaches or feel overwhelmed with schoolwork? This is often when short-sightedness (myopia) develops. Stress-relieving glasses can slow or even prevent myopia progression. For young athletes that wants to excel in their sport, sport vision therapy can sharpen performance—even with perfect 20/20 eyesight. If needed, we may recommend a comprehensive 120 min evaluation (see Complicated Cases).
Adults
- 25–40 years (45–60 min)
With long hours of screen time, eyestrain, headaches, and fatigue are common—even with perfect eyesight. Stress-relieving glasses can help protect comfort and productivity.
- 40–50 years (45–60 min)
“Arms too short?” This is the age where reading vision changes. We assess your lifestyle, and work needs to recommend tailored solutions. From top-quality Shamir multifocals to affordable options, we make sure you get the best fit. For first-time multifocal wearers, we offer a peace-of-mind guarantee: if you can’t adapt, we’ll replace your lenses with the next best option at no extra cost.
- 50+ years (45–60 min)
We use advanced technology (OCT and fundus camera) to screen for age-related concerns such as dry eyes, cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. Early detection allows us to guide, educate, and refer you to trusted specialists if needed.
Contact Lenses
- First time wearing contact lenses (60min):
After your comprehensive eye test, the appropriate test lenses will be ordered, and a 60-minute appointment will be scheduled to check how they fit your eyes. During this session, we’ll show you how to insert, remove, and care for your lenses properly. To ensure your eyes stay healthy while wearing contact lenses, a final 15-minute check will be done after 1–2 weeks of use.
- Full Exam (45–60 min)
Annual eye tests are legally recommended for renewing your contact lens prescription in South Africa. Contact lenses are medical devices—regular checks protect your eye health and keep you updated with the latest technology.
- Corneal Health Check (15 min)
If you feel your prescription hasn’t changed, we offer a quick check to ensure your eyes are healthy before renewing. We recommend alternating this with a full exam every other year.
More Complicated Cases (120 min)
Not all vision systems develop perfectly. Conditions like ADHD, dyslexia, apraxia, and other neurodiversities often come with underdeveloped visual skills. These can affect learning, concentration, sports, and confidence.
Our comprehensive evaluation looks at:
- Eye-hand and eye-body coordination
- Visual understanding and perception
- Eye-hearing integration
From there, we create a personalised plan that may include glasses, contact lenses, syntonic light therapy, and vision therapy.
Concussion, Stroke & Traumatic Brain Injury (120 min)
Even mild bumps can disrupt vision—causing headaches, double vision, poor concentration, or dizziness. Larger events like strokes or car accidents may lead to field loss or severe visual difficulties.
Our neuro-optometric rehabilitation program may include glasses, prisms, tints, syntonic therapy, and vision therapy to restore visual function.
Syntonic Light Therapy (120 min)
In addition to being part of our vision therapy program, syntonic light therapy can also be used on its own. You may benefit from light therapy if you:
- Often bump into objects or struggle with spatial awareness
- Find night driving or parking difficult
- Feel your visual field narrows when under stress
We combine light therapy with awareness exercises to improve both visual comfort and function.
Driver’s Licence Screenings (15 min, Free – Booking Required)
We provide free driver’s licence screenings—before your renewal or after a failed test at the licensing office. If you don’t pass, we may recommend a full exam to determine if glasses are needed. Our tests can also reveal underlying eye health concerns like cataracts, macular degeneration, or glaucoma.
